Yes, I'm Doing Sponsored Posts

In the past three months, this blog has grown from 3 readers (me, myself, and I) to more than 700 page views per month from over 250 people. This is a tiny success compared to the wedding mega-blogs out there, but I'm proud of it just the same. My site recently caught the attention of a wedding-related company, and they approached me to do a sponsored review about their products on my blog. I accepted, and the post will go up tomorrow.

Sponsored posts are a controversial topic in the blogging community, and many rightfully believe it can detract from a blog's content and reputation. At the end of the day, I'm not a professional blogger or a wedding expert; I'm just a bride in need of adding to her "Wedding Fund". But, I do not want to become a "spam" blog or compromise the quality and useful content that fellow brides and wedding junkies come here for.

I've scoured the 'net for best practices for accepting post sponsorship, and I have come up with these promises to you, my readers:
  1. Disclosure: Every post that has been paid for by a sponsor will be clearly labeled with something like "Sponsored Post" or "Paid Review".
  2. Relevance: Every sponsor and all content will be directly related to weddings. That's what you come here to read about.
  3. Voice: I will personally research and write all posts to this blog (paid or unpaid), unless noted as a "guest blogger" post. The views and opinions on this blog will be honest and they will be my own. I will not post pre-written content from sponsors.
  4. Balance: Sponsored posts will not make up more than 10% of the total blog posts. I will accept only a limited number of post sponsorships, so I don't waste your time or spam your RSS reader.
I hope that you will continue with me on my wedding planning journey!
