Step-By-Step Tutorial For Doily Petal Toss Cones

I love crossing things off my wedding to-do list! This weekend, it was our exit toss favors. I ordered fresh rose petals in bulk to be delivered the day before the wedding, and made some sweet cones out of doilies. I'm hoping we'll look something like this at the end of our reception:

To make the doily cones, I started with an inspiration from Martha Stewart Weddings:

Materials:

Steps:

Mark the doilies with pencil into thirds. I've seen people use the entire doily, a fourth, or half, but I found thirds gave the best size with minimal overlap.

I marked each doily using a guide I cut out of cardboard, and then cut them individually. My fiance took a more efficient approach: he marked one doily, and then cut them all in the stack at once with a utility knife.

Stick a 2" piece of tape on the inside of the doily on one side. Don't make the tape piece too long, or it will stick out at the bottom inside when you roll it into a cone.

Stick a 1/2" piece at the top to close the flap. I used a small piece so I could stick it to just the doily and not have stickiness through the holes.

  1. These are so pretty! I just clicked over from your comment on the Decor8 article on Duplicate it Yourself. I was reading though the comments when I saw that a commentor's last blog post was a step by step tutorial. So of course I had to click right over! I would love to link to this if you didn't mind.

  3. Nice one, I would probably be using this for my sister wedding on September, she loves flowers. So shower of petals in her wedding would be really great. Thanks for sharing.
