Bridal Makeup Inspirations: Pick the Right Pictures!

Before my makeup session for my bridal portrait, my makeup artist told me to bring pictures of what I wanted.  I blanked.  Ummm, I want to look pretty? I sort of randomly picked pictures of things I liked and brought them all to my makeup artist without rhyme or reason.  Big mistake!

The makeup artist completely misunderstood what I wanted because I hadn't paid attention to what pictures I was giving her.  I thought I was giving her "purple eyeshadow" pictures, when really I was giving her "super dramatic, smudgy eyes" pictures, which she gave me.  Not my style at all!  I didn't feel like I looked like myself.

On the wedding day, I came with a completely different set of pictures. The colors were more muted, and the overall look was more classic.  I switched from crazy purples to tans and browns.

As much as it kills me (and as much as I did NOT want to look like Lizzie McGuire), I also brought along these Hilary Duff pictures.  The makeup was exactly what I was looking for.

I think my makeup on my wedding day came out so much better than my bridal portrait!  Mainly because I narrowed down my vision, so I could better communicate what I wanted to my makeup artist.  I felt that I looked like a prettier, more bridal version of myself.

Hopefully no one looked at me and said "Very Hilary Duff".
