Right in the middle of primping and hair curling, it started to rain. I know they say it's good luck for the marriage if it rains on your wedding day, but it doesn't calm down a bride worried about her hair frizzing!
To make matters worse, we arrived at the church to find out the storm had knocked out the power! At this point, the day-of coordinators made their fee completely worth it. They jumped right into working with the musicians to figure out some acappella music (the organ is electric) and lighting candles on the altar. Don't worry though! The power came back on (along with the organ) about 15 minutes before the ceremony. Even though the church was a bit warm after no A/C for hours, our guests were at least able to see us.
Luckily the bride's room had a window, so we had some light while the power was out. I definitely did not want to get changed in the dark on my wedding day. Going to the bathroom in the dark was a bit of a challenge though!
Ok, enough about the bridal party. At some point, the guys showed up on the trolley we rented.
Honestly I had no idea what the guys were doing the whole morning (sleeping maybe?), or if they even had lunch. I got a few minutes to chat with my husband-to-be over the phone before we really started getting ready and put on the dress. It's not bad luck to talk the groom before the ceremony right? Just as long as he didn't see me?
