Since we got married on the mainland in League City, we needed a way to transport our wedding party to the reception 30 minutes away in Galveston. Renting a trolley was a great nod to the Galveston trolley system (currently still out of commission due to Hurricane Ike), plus it held over 20 people!
The inside was completely different from a historic trolley: leather seats, stereo system, and a bar. We definitely felt like we were traveling in style. I liked this a lot better than renting limos: we had more space and could fit more people, so more people felt included.
We had a big gap in between the ceremony and the reception (three hours!), so we did a little field trip to the Galveston Strand. I felt a little self-conscious marching the whole wedding party down the Strand in my wedding dress, but the other tourists were so nice and we got lots of "Congrats!" yelled at us. Several children asked if I was a princess!
We stopped in at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for some sweet treats, much to the enjoyment of the kiddos.
And, of course, I loved it too. Have I said before how much I like ice cream?
Our next stop was the Bacchus Wine Bar (without the children, of course!). It was wonderful to be able to just sit down with our closest friends, reflect on the fact that "Oh my gosh, we're married now!", and relax a little in the middle of the long day.
It is apparently legal to drink outside on the Strand, a fact of which *certain* wedding party members took full advantage. In their defense, we did need to finish one of the bottles from the wine bar.
